The importance of the thoracic duct in the spread of malignant disease

Abstract
Acom-parative study between the radiologic appearances of the thoracic duct in a number of human cadavers and in cases dying of carcinoma, in which the presence of obstruction of the thoracic duct and the formation of collateral channels which may be the route for anomalous neoplastic spread, is described. The characteristics of the collateral circulation and the alterations brought by the obstruction of the thoracic duct are discussed.
