Abstract
This work describes the synthesis of cadmium borates from Cd(OH)2 and B(OH)3 in various molar ratios (1:2, 1:4,1:1, 3:2) between 250-350°C and 10−4−10−5 mm Hg. The products were characterized by X-ray diffraction, thermal analysis and IR spectroscopy. On the basis of these experiments, it appears that this method can be applied to the isolation of related metallic borates at temperatures that are several hundreds of degrees below those cited in the literature. A new cadmium borate, CdB2O4, is described with lattice parameters a= 6.206 and c = 6.288 Å.Keywords
