Abstract
Investigations of the effects of status changes such as retirement should take into consideration other status changes that occur in close temporal sequence. In this study analyses based on the preretirement and postretirement marital histories of male retirees are compared with analyses based only on the retirees' current marital status. The results show significant differences between methods of analysis. Keywords
