Abstract
An extensive system of bands in the visible and near infrared regions of the spectrum has been observed in emission when aluminum is present in a King Furnace. These bands have been attributed to the AlC molecule. No metallic carbide spectrum has been described before. A vibrational analysis of the bands has been made. The values ωe′ = 278.795 and ωe″ = 350.011 kaysers were obtained. Keywords
