Abstract
During 4 days 2 dogs on a diet of potatoes were fed (A) 3580 and (B) 1790 mg. N as (CH3)3 3. Some of the urinary (CH3)3N may have been endogenous in origin; the (CH3)3NH excreted was slightly above normal. When (CH3)3NO was fed, about 2/3 of it was recovered in the urine, mostly unchanged, and a small amt. of (CH3)3N was also present. Since there was no increased excretion of CH3NH2, (CH3)2NH or creatine, the remainder of the (CH3)3NO was probably converted into NH3. When betaine was fed, about 1/2 was recovered unchanged in the urine, and the rest as urea. Crystalline (CH3)3NO reineckate was prepared. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
