Abstract
Intercostal nerve block during thoracotomy under general anaesthesia resulted in hypotension and a decrease in heart rate in five of 30 blocks performed. We attribute this to paravertebral spread of the local anaesthetic drug affecting sympathetic nerve fibres. Keywords
