Abstract
Five cases of leiomyomata of the esophagus presenting as mediastinal masses are described. The barium swallow study is critical in making the diagnosis; the roentgenographic features are typical. The presentation of leiomyomata of the esophagus as mediastinal masses is unusual, but should be considered in any differential diagnosis of mediastinal lesions.
