A Precision Grinding Machine for Diffusion Studies

Abstract
A precision grinding machine was constructed to permit the study of diffusion in germanium. Because one may obtain data after mean penetrations of the order of 10μ, this instrument is useful for problems involving very small diffusion coefficients and radioactive tracers of very short half‐life. It has been found that diffusion in ductile metals such as silver may be investigated by use of this technique.
