Abstract
The coupled equations of collision theory are examined in the projection-operator formulation of Feshbach. It is shown that the separate treatments of the open and closed channels provide distinct numerical advantages over the conventional methods. As an illustrative example, the phase shift and resonances for the (, H) system are calculated.
