Abstract
The spontaneous development of anemia of the macrocytic hyperchromic type in dogs with "internal" bile fisulae was observed. Criteria for an exptl. anemia analogous to pernicious anemia and sprue were given as: Anemia of the macrocytic hyperchromic type; hyperplasia of the erythro-blastic tissue of the bone marrow; response to purified liver extract given parenterally; no response to other factors known to be essential in normal nutrition and metabolism. The authors believe that the anemia is due to a failure of absorption of the anti-pernicious anemia factor from the intestine. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
