Accumulation and Apparent Absence of DDT Metabolism by Marine Copepods, Calanus spp., in Culture

Abstract
14C-p,p′-DDT was taken up from sea water by nonfeeding marine copepods held at 6 C for 8 wk. Calanus spp. reached an equilibrium DDT level of 50–100 ppm (dry weight) after 3–4 wk exposure in an initial water concentration of [Formula: see text]. No metabolites of p,p′-DDT could be detected during this period.
