Abstract
Urinary excretion of trimethylamines following oral admn. of choline was depressed if simultaneously aureomycin, Terramycin, penicillin O, and dibenzylethylenediamine penicillin were given. This depression was of short duration, inasmuch as after oral admn. of dibenzylethylenediamine penicillin for a few days, the excretion of trimethylamines rose to the level obtained without the antibiotic. The inhibitory effect of the antibiotics probably takes place in the upper intestine, because soluble penicillin is also effective. The intraven. injn. of aureomycin had no effect on the excretion of trimethylamines. Sulfathalidine and gantrisin did not exert any inhibitory action. Keywords
