Abstract
The suppression of drift instability is observed by applying a homogeneous rf electric field in a dc discharge diffused plasma. The instability amplitude is reduced by more than a factor of 30 and, concomitantly, a decrease of plasma loss across the magnetic field is also observed. Keywords
