Abstract
Eight mineral dusts, 7 of which were fibrous, were tested in 3 in vitro systems. The dusts were previously tested for their ability to produce mesotheliomata in rats. The in vivo and in vitro biological activities of these dusts are compared with the number and size of fibers they contain. All the in vitro systems would apparently predict which dusts are pathogenic in vivo. In vivo and in vitro biological activities are probably determined by the number of long, fine fibers. This publication has 12 references indexed in Scilit:
