Abstract
The specificity of LH action in inducing peroxidase in the rat ovary accompanying the depletion of ascorbate in hCG primed immature pseudopregnant rats and in cycling rats was studied. Well characterized LH antisera were used in the above model system to block the action of LH. The endogenous surge of LH was blocked by injecting antisera to ovine LH on the day of proestrus at 1330 h in 4 or 5 day cycling rats. Antiserum was also injected in hCG primed immature pseudopregnant rats 10 min after the injection of 20 µg LH. It was observed that rabbit antiserum to ovine LH blocks two effects of LH, namely induction of peroxidase and depletion of ascorbate, thereby, suggesting specific regulation of peroxidase induction by LH.Keywords
