A Gyromagnetic Electron Gyroscope

Abstract
We recently proposed a detector of absolute angular velocity based on the difference between the gyromagnetic factor of the Cooper pairs in a superconductor, 2mc/e, and that of electron spins in a magnetic material, 2mc/ge with g∼2. The detector, which does not contain moving parts, is based on the measurement of the Barnett magnetization of a ferromagnetic rod enclosed in a corotating superconducting shield. Here we present an extensive experimental demonstration of the principle of operation.
