Absence of particle drift in magnetic fields of translational symmetry

Abstract
It is shown that a charged particle moving in a magnetic field described by the vector potential Ay=Bx+f (z) experiences no drift motion. This, of course, includes the case of parabolic field lines Ay=Bzx+αz2.Keywords
