Abstract
The three body electron-ion recombination rate coefficient for argon is calculated within the range of electron number densities 11010-11016 cm-3 and electron temperatures of 2000 K-16000 K. The calculations are based on the principle of a 'bottleneck' and use hydrogenic approximations for the collisional transition probabilities. The results are compared with experimental values and also with other theoretical calculations. Keywords
