Abstract
A new perturbation theory for acoustoelastic effects has been derived. The purpose is to deal with inhomogeneous stress states and perturbations of focused acoustic wave beams or wave guide modes. Energy is expressed in terms of third-order elastic constants. Results are derived for perturbation of plane shear waves, plane longitudinal waves, and focused shear and longitudinal wave beams. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
