Abstract
A study is made of the effect of the chemical binding of the proton in hydrogenous substances on the capture of slow neutrons. It is shown that in contrast with the scattering cross section, no change is made by this in the radiative capture cross section. An estimate shows that the process of radiationless capture made possible by the binding will not play an important role. Keywords
