Abstract
Oxidation of p-nitrosophenol by 15N-labelled nitric acid in 34% sulphuric acid (4.4 M) did not produce labelled p-nitrophenol, thereby showing the nitrodenitrosation scheme of Bazanova and Stotskii to be untenable; furthermore, the order of the oxidation in nitric acid is 0.67, not 1, as reported by earlier workers. Keywords
