Abstract
Chinese learning methods and their relevance to language learning have been the subject of much recent discussion. This article examines some foreign attitudes to these methods and discusses them in the light of a course taught in China. Some learner-based considerations are discussed, and the need for compromise and balance is stressed.Keywords
