Abstract
Magnetization, magnetostriction, and thermal expansion measurements have been performed on Ce1−xGdxAl3(x=0.05,0.2). The unstable moment Kondo properties of Ce in CeAl3 persist for both values of x, but are modified at the composition x=0.2 at which the system is ferromagnetic. Evidence for this conclusion is that the temperature dependence of the volume magnetostriction and values of the thermal expansion are very small below the Curie temperature. This publication has 8 references indexed in Scilit:
