Abstract
The diagnosis of an intrathoracic goiter can, on occasion, be difficult to confirm. The Valsalva maneuver was found useful in making this diagnosis in 2 patients whose case histories are reported. Such goiters are termed plunging goiters. The phenomenon is discussed and the use of the Valsalva maneuver in demonstrating such lesions is emphasized. Keywords
