Abstract
Three-dimensional single-crystal X-ray studies of the complex of palladium(II) chloride with 1,2-bis(isopropylseleno)ethane confirms that crystals from acetone are monomeric. The space group is P21/c with Z= 4 in a unit cell of dimensions a= 8·38, b= 8·97, c= 18·67 Å, and β= 95·7°. The palladium, two chlorine and two selenium atoms are coplanar. The isopropyl groups both lie on the same side of this plane and the chelate ring has a gauche conformation about the C–C bond. Isotropic least-squares refinement of the structure of PdCl2Se2C8H18 gave R 0·12 for 857 observed reflections. Keywords
