Abstract
Tundus photographs and the fluorescein angiograms were compared at the beginning of Stargardts macular degeneration. Fluorescein angiography was extremely informative. At first the distinct functional losses were most important; ophthalmoscopically, only slight pigment irregularities were discernible. In the fluorescein angiogram the picture of fundus flavimaculatus was already distinguishable at this stage of the disease. Stargardt''s macular degeneration and fundus flavimaculatus appeared identical.
