Oxygen uptake in the lingcod, Ophiodon elongatus, during progressive hypoxia

Abstract
O2 uptake (.ovrhdot.VO2) in the resting lingcod was 22.8 .+-. 0.6 ml O2 .cntdot. h-1 .cntdot. kg-1. During progressive environmental hypoxia lingcod maintained or elevated their .ovrhdot.VO2 provided the water O2 tension was greater than 45 mm Hg. Increased .ovrhdot.VO2 (up to 4-fold) during moderate hypoxia was associated with activity.
