An outbreak of mastitis in a dairy herd due to Pseudomonas aeruginosa contamination of dry-cow therapy at manufacture

Abstract
An outbreak of Pseudomonas mastitis in a well managed herd in Northern Victoria, Australia, is described. The source of this outbreak, 1 of a number in Victorian and Tasmanian farms in the spring of 1978, was traced to 1 batch of a contaminated dry cow therapy. The epizootiological investigations, bacterial isolations and typing, histopathological findings and control measures and their outcome are described and discussed.
