Excitation probability in a time-dependent external potential

Abstract
A new cumulant expansion is constructed for the excitation probability in a solid caused by an external time-dependent potential. The new systematic expansion is discussed in the context of an external particle interacting with a surface. It is shown that earlier key results are obtained from the first term in the expansion.Keywords
