Abstract
The Cancer Control Program, which was introduced with the National Cancer Act of 1971, was designed to facilitate the transfer of cancer-care technology out of the research and teaching centers into broader community or regional application. The goal of the program was to extend to all patients and potential patients with cancer optimal prevention, detection, diagnosis, rehabilitation and continuing-care services. This program is now a major effort on the part of the National Cancer Institute: it is one of the five divisions of the Institute, and in 1976–77 had an annual budget of $60 million. We are in complete accord . . .Keywords
