Abstract
First of all, we are pleased to see that all the commentators emphasize the benefit of introducing artificial intelligence techniques into aphasia therapy. We believe that only a close relationship between specialists within the two domains can help such an enterprise be successful. We want to state that one of the authors has been a linguist-clinician for many years in a multidisciplinary team (grouping linguists, neurologists and statisticians), which is in charge of the re-education of aphasic patients in the neurology service of the Hospital and Medical University in Rennes (France). The remaining two authors are researchers fiom the artificial intelligence laboratory of Rennes University and INRIA (the French National Institute for Computer Science). Consequently, our work is the result of an ongoing multidisciplinary collaboration between linguists, clinicians and computer scientists.
