Abstract
The following thesis is an argument for the radiosensitivity of malignant melanomata, based on cases published in the literature and on 38 cases referred for treatment to the Sheffield Radium Centre in the years 1931 to 1937. No cases have been excluded, but only a certain number of the cases affect the argument. However, the first table is included as a preliminary general survey of all the cases which needs no further elaboration. My thanks are due to many people for help of both a direct and indirect nature; to the honorary staffs of the Sheffield hospitals for their cooperation in my work; to the radiological and pathological departments for their help in essential investigation; to Dr. Hermitte, Pathologist of the Sheffield Royal Infirmary, particularly for his help in the preparation of the microphotographs and for two drawings; and last, but by no means least, to the office staff of the Radium Centre.
