Abstract
Maize inoculated with an unnamed Endogone sp. developed a vesicular arbuscular mycorrhiza. Mycorrhizal maize grew much larger than nonmycorrhizal maize in P-deficient soils. Nonmycorrhizal plants exhibited P-deficiency symptoms. Mycorrhizal plants contained a higher concentration of P, and soil analysis showed they had removed more P from the soil than nonmycorrhizal plants. The extent of mycorrhizal infection was correlated with increases in growth. This publication has 5 references indexed in Scilit:
