Familial Benign Chronic Pemphigus

Abstract
A patient had familial benign chronic pemphigus and neomycin sensitivity. Trauma was proposed as an initiating event in the induction of lesions of familial benign chronic pemphigus. It was possible to demonstrate in this neomycinsensitive patient that, in addition to mechanical trauma provided by stripping with tape, hydration under occlusion, and liquid, nitrogen application, exposure to a neomycin patch test would produce clinically and histologically typical lesions of familial benign chronic pemphigus as well as allergic contact dermatitis. The necessity of considering the role of possible sensitizing medications in the production of these lesions is emphasized.
