The Localisation of Cephaloridine and Nitrofurantoin in the Kidney

Abstract
(1) The intra-renal localisation of labelled antibacterial drugs was studied using an autoradiographic technique designed for the detection of soluble compounds. (2) Cephaloridine showed considerable localisation to the renal medullaryinterstitium. It was also seen in the cells of the proximal tubule. (3) Nitrofurantoin was localised to the medullary tubular lumen and the interstitial spaces in concentrations exceeding the M.I.C. for many urinary pathogens.
