Abstract
The system outline for a 100-Mbit/s optical loop network is described as well as several considerations which will need to be investigated for the construction of the system. The main features of the network are its large capacity, which is efficiently capable of accommodating both circuit-switching and packet-switching services; high-reliability due to its double-loop configuration and use of an optical accessor for perpetual bypassing; and quick recovery of the whole loop by means of the concurrent loop-back method when a lines fail. Keywords
