Abstract
In isolated and electrically stimulated rat ventricle strips, the activity of quinine and quinidine sulphate on excitability, rheobase and maximal rate of stimulation has been measured. By testing the two drugs on the same preparation at the same concentrations, from 5 × 10−6 to 3 × 10−5, no statistically significant difference was detected in the relative potency of the two drugs. These findings are discussed in relation to the observed clinical inactivity of quinineKeywords
