Abstract
The light propagation and amplification through a planar dye laser are investigated by ray-tracing methods. The radiation lobe is then evaluated with the help of the Malus-Dupin theorem. The numerical results are in satisfactory quantitative agreement with the experiments, when the time evolution of the gradient of the complex refractive index is properly taken into account. Keywords
