Abstract
Wide ranging reviews, of housing policy are a significant feature of policy making in many countries. In England a major review carried out in 1977 was intended to provide a comprehensive basis for the future. In this article the 1977 national housing policy review is considered and conclusions are offered about the lessons to be learned from it on the form of such reviews and the importance of monitoring. Keywords
