The characteristic absorption of ultra-violet radiation by certain purines

Abstract
The ultraviolet absorption spectra of the following purines was determined: uric acid, guanine, adenine, hypoxanthine, caffeine, and theobromine. All the above purines followed Beer''s law. The absorption spectra of the purines were not altered when they were observed in the form of a nucleoside or nucleotide. The absorption spectrum of thioneine was also determined.
