Abstract
Transient-stability studies are briefly described from the point of view of digital computation, indicating the difficulties which are introduced in the network analysis when the saliency of synchronous machines is considered. The derivation is given of a matrix procedure for determining the voltages, currents and powers of machines in an efficient manner, this being particularly important in view of the number of times the electrical powers of machines are computed in the course of a transient-stability calculation.
