Effect of Cholic and Hyodeoxycholic Acids on Metabolism of Exogenous Cholesterol in Mice.

Abstract
Observations were made on the effects of cholic and hyodeoxycholic acids on the metabolism of cholesterol of exogenous origin in mice. Mice were fed diets supplemented with these bile acids, with cholesterol or with a combination of bile acids and cholesterol. Cholic acid caused the accumulation of large amounts of liver and carcass cholesterol. On the other hand hyodeoxycholic acid prevented liver and carcass cholesterol accumulation, and reversed the effects of cholic acid.
