Abstract
From photoluminescence (PL) studies of the As-Se system it is found that the PL intensity is proportional to As concentration for compositions ranging from 0·3 at.% As to As2Se3. Other PL properties are essentially unchanged. It is argued that this behaviour provides good evidence that the PL recombination centre is an As broken bond. Keywords
