Roentgen Appearance of Fat Necrosis in the Breast

Abstract
Fat necrosis of the breast is a benign, nonsuppurative, inflammatory process that clinically and mammographically may simulate malignant tumor. Three cases of fat necrosis are presented. In all 3 instances the roentgen diagnosis of malignant tumor was erroneous. Biopsy is concluded to be the only safe means by which fat necrosis and carcinoma may be differentiated.
