Abstract
Single dosages of sodium barbital or sodium pentobarbital were given to pregnant female rats 19.5 days after conception. Litters were tested on maze and reasoning problems in comparison with a control group, and showed significant decrements in both. A control experiment using successive litters from the same mothers showed similar results and served as a control of the possibility of hereditary influences.
