Intrinsic Surface Phonons in Porous Glass

Abstract
Raman scattering and infrared reflectivity measurements have been performed on samples of porous Vycor glass. Three features in the spectra are due to intrinsic surface phonons. This identification is supported by a simple new theory for the surface.Keywords
