Bacterial Morphology as Shown by the Electron Microscope

Abstract
Hemolytic streptococci of Lancefield''s Group A were studied with the RCA Electron Microscope. Evidence for the existence of a rigid surface membrane differentiated from the interior protoplasm of the streptococcal cell is presented. Electron micro-graphs of mucoid, smooth and rough variants are shown.
