Abstract
Microbial pathogens have evolved to interfere with essential processes in eukaryotic cells. P. Cossart illustrates how a new field, cellular microbiology, is emerging in which the targets of these microbes are being identified and many aspects of normal cell biology are being revealed.Keywords
