Abstract
Decreased immunological reactivity (skin tests and rosette-formation) in oncological patients is associated with a decreased sensitivity to dexamethasone suppression of cortisol; an increased serum concentration of 11-oxycorticosteroids, triglycerides, cholesterol and .beta.-lipoproteins; and decreased glucose tolerance. The use of phenformin for 3 mo. in atherosclerosis patients considerably increased the phytohemagglutinin-stimulated lymphocyte blast transformation index and the number of rosette-forming cells. These effects were associated with normalization of lipid metabolism indices. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
