Abstract
We demonstrate the possibility of stabilizing unstable stationary states (unstable focus) in an experiment by applying feedback on a control parameter. The technique also allows the characterization of these unstable states. It has been checked experimentally on the spontaneous instability appearing in a Nd-doped optical-fiber laser. Keywords
